Hougaard Malan
About Hougaard Malan
Hougaard Malan is a contemporary fine art photographer known for uncompromising technical precision and an instinctive feel for light and weather. A purist, he does not alter or manipulate the scenes he photographs; instead, he returns to places again and again, waiting for the moment when composition, atmosphere, and light align. From Namibia’s deserts and the Cape coastline to landscapes around the world, his images present nature exactly as it was seen, truthful, lyrical, and alive.
Artist’s Statement
“I believe in photographing the landscape exactly as it is. The art is in the patience, waiting for light, weather, and place to align. When that happens, the photograph needs no embellishment.”
