Editions and certificates

Every work in the shop tells you plainly what it is: an original painting, a limited edition, an open edition or a celebration print. Here is what each one means.

Limited editions

A limited edition is printed only up to the number stated on the work, for example an edition of 20. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist. The edition size is taken from the gallery's register, and when the edition sells, it closes. Where only a few prints remain, the work says so.

Some works are offered in the one size the artist feels suits them best, others in a choice of sizes. A limited edition can also be ordered in a custom size, as long as the composition is not altered, so that it hangs perfectly in the space you have in mind. A custom size is a convenience, and does not lessen the value of the print. Ask the gallery about a custom size.

Open editions

Open edition prints, the Portfolio range, are signed by the artist but not numbered, and are offered in a choice of sizes. They do not come with a certificate.

Original paintings

An original is one of one. It is signed by the artist, on the painting. When an original finds its home, you can still commission a similar painting, and where the artist has made one, buy a celebration print.

Celebration prints

A celebration print is made from a sold original, carries the printed signature from the painting, and is never signed again. More about celebration prints.

How the prints are made

On archival pigment inks and heavyweight fine art paper, with a white border that carries the signature. Every print is made to order and checked by the artist before it is signed.
