About collecting

Celebration prints

When an original painting is sold and finds its home, it leaves the gallery for good. In some cases the artist then releases a celebration print, which becomes available to keep the legacy of the original painting alive. It adds to the value of the painting itself, because only one person will ever own the original, yet the painting is still being promoted.

What a celebration print is

A celebration print is a high quality archival pigment reproduction print, made directly from the original painting. Some are offered in one size only. The artist may choose to offer others in several sizes, but most often there are two, a smaller and a larger print. It shows the printed signature from the painting and is never signed again. In other words, if you have seen the painting in real life, the celebration print shows it exactly as it was painted, signature included. Sizes and prices are shown on each work.

Or commission a similar painting

The artist can paint a new work for you in the style and spirit of the sold one. It can never be a duplicate, because it is painted by hand: it will always be a new original painting, and so it will always look different. You can ask for changes, to colour, style or mood, and, if the artist agrees, for elements to be added or left out.

Everything is agreed with you in person at the gallery in Cape Town, with the curator, who discusses it with the artist, or on a live Zoom call with the curator and the artist. You sign off the finished painting before it is packed and shipped.
