the-cross-gordons-bay
The Cross | Gordon's Bay

A small stone cross on the shore at Gordon's Bay near Cape Town, set up in memory of a doctor who drowned here. Koos van der Lende came across it on an overcast afternoon, on his way to the southern tip of Africa, and decided to wait for the evening.

As the clouds lifted, the sky behind the cross turned bright over False Bay, and he painted the cross with light from a hand held lamp as the day faded. No two of those evenings are ever the same, so this is a moment that can't be repeated.

Artist: Koos van der Lende

Collection: Evidence of Mankind

Signature Collection, limited edition of 25, signed and numbered, with a certificate of authenticity

Only 25 prints will ever be made, across all sizes together.
