fields-of-gold-celebration-print
Fields of Gold, Celebration Print

Fields of Gold holds the quiet vastness of the Klein Karoo, a landscape where gravel roads stretch toward distant mountains and life moves at a gentler pace. It comes out of years of travelling the countryside around Montagu in the Western Cape, bringing memory, photography and painting together to recreate the atmosphere of the region. The open gate, the solitary cyclist and the windmill hint at the rhythm of rural life, warm ochre and dusty gold against the cool blues of the Langeberg. The original painting now lives with a collector.

A celebration print is released so that a painting can be lived with by more than one person. One collector owns the original, and as more people acquire a celebration print over the years the standing of that original grows, which is the point of them. It is also how the work is seen again: when Martin holds a retrospective it is the larger celebration print that hangs on the wall.

Artist: Martin Osner

Celebration print, numbered on the print before it is released

Archival pigment print on fine art paper

The signature is the artist's own, as painted on the original.
